Here is every word Neff says in the video.
- Hi! I'm Neff, from The Kidney Experts. Your blood pressure and your kidneys are linked. So we may ask you to check your blood pressure at home. Let me show you how.
- First, the right tool. Use a monitor with a cuff that goes on your upper arm. The cuff should fit your arm. Wrist and watch devices may not be exact enough. Need help? Ask us.
- Small things can change your number. So for half an hour before, don't exercise, smoke, or have caffeine. And use the bathroom first.
- Now sit in a chair with your back supported. Keep both feet flat on the floor. Don't cross your legs. Rest quietly for five minutes.
- Put the cuff on your bare arm, not over your sleeve. Rest your arm on a table, at about heart level. Then stay still, and don't talk.
- Take at least two readings, about a minute apart. Write down each one, with the date and time. Or save them in an app. That's your blood pressure log.
- Ask us how often and when to check. Try to check at the same time each day.
- One high number is not the whole story. We look at many readings over time. So please don't change your medicines because of one reading. Talk to us first. And ask us what to do if a reading is very high or very low.
- Bring your log to every visit. Bring your questions too. Let's take care of your kidneys together!
