You don't have to end up on dialysis.

Kidney disease is usually quiet until it is advanced. Seeing a kidney specialist earlier gives you more ways to protect the function you still have, and more time to decide what happens next.

Most people find out from a lab result, not a symptom.

That news is unsettling. It is also the point where there is the most left to work with.

Our nephrologists look for the cause, treat the things that are driving the loss, and explain every step in language you can repeat to your family. You stay in charge of the decisions; we make sure you understand them.

Not sure whether you need a nephrologist? Our kidney health check walks through the two tests that matter most, eGFR and urine albumin, and what the results usually mean.Take the kidney health check.

Three Steps to Better Kidney Health

Getting started is simpler than most people expect.

  1. Get on the schedule

Call (731) 300-6155 or ask your doctor to send a referral. We look at your history first so the visit starts where you are, not at the beginning.

  2. Find out what your numbers mean

A nephrologist reviews your labs, blood pressure and medications, then explains in plain language what is driving the change and what can be adjusted.

  3. Keep the plan going

You leave with a written plan and a clinic that knows your name. We track your numbers over time and change course when something is not working.

Where most people start with us

Three areas cover the reason for most first visits. Each one links to a fuller explanation written for patients, not clinicians.

Chronic kidney disease

Start here if a lab result mentioned your kidneys. This is the largest part of what we do. We explain your eGFR and urine protein, look for the cause behind the numbers, and build a plan aimed at slowing the loss of function, including diet, blood pressure and medication review.

  • eGFR and urine albumin
  • CKD stages 1–5
  • Slowing progression

Understand treatment options before the decision feels urgent

If kidneys do fail, there is more than one path. Our plain-language guide lays them side by side so families can read it together, calmly, ahead of time.

  • Transplant planning
  • Home therapies
  • In-center dialysis
  • Supportive care

What has actually happened for our patients

Twenty years of nephrology in West Tennessee, coordinated across more than 25 dialysis units, adds up to a record we are willing to publish.

These are counts from our own practice records for the years shown. They describe what happened for a group of patients over several years. They are not a prediction for any one person, and kidney outcomes depend on many things no clinic controls.

A clear referral path helps kidney care start earlier.

When referrals are clear, people can reach kidney care sooner — while there is still time to protect kidney function.

The figures beside this describe referrals to the practice as a whole. Nothing here is tied to a person, a chart, or a visit.

So far I have enjoyed my experience with the team at the Kidney Experts. My original appointment was during the recent ice/snow storm, therefore, 8 had a virtual appointment with the doctor and his staff. Recently diagnosed with kidney cancer I had many concerns but the doctor reassured me that I would be well looked after. Since the initial call i have had frequent interactions with the staff monitoring my health! I have received some good advice on how to handle my kidney issues. I strongly recommend using The Kidney Experts in situations such as mine!
