What Do Our Amazing Kidneys Do?

The kidneys are filters

The basic unit of the kidneys is called the nephron.

The glomerulus is the nephron’s filter

This is where the kidney filters waste in the blood into the urine.

Glomeruli is plural for glomerulus

The main job of the kidneys is to clean the blood. Blood goes into the kidney, and urine comes out of it as it passes through the individual glomeruli.

There are 1 million glomeruli in each kidney
