The Kidney Experts Dr Shree Mulay

Shree Mulay, MD

Nephrologist

Growing up in the town of Dyersburg, TN, Shree Mulay was deeply inspired by his father, Dr. Ramakant Mulay, a renowned kidney specialist. From a young age, Shree followed his father in both the clinic and hospital, learning about nephrology firsthand. Yet, it was his love and passion for technology that propelled him to study medicine at Mahatma Gandhi Mission Medical College in Navi Mumbai, India. Shree then went on complete his residency at the esteemed Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY – and it was here he first met his future wife, Anna.

The couple then took off to Wisconsin, where they undertook their Nephrology fellowship at the University of Wisconsin. After the completion of their fellowship, Shree and Anna moved back to his hometown in Tennessee, where his father soon thereafter retired. Here, they both manage multiple locations of West Tennessee Healthcare Hospitals, including multiple dialysis clinics and four kidney care clinics.

What we love about Shree?

What really stands out about Shree is his laid-back yet down-to-earth teaching style, which helps patients understand complex concepts with ease. He also has a great sense of humor and is known for his funny yet caring demeanor towards patients. With his Tech Savvy approach, no problem is unsolved as he continuously drags his team to higher standards with enthusiasm and kindness. With all that said – what ultimately draws us to Shree is his passion for patient care, which is evident in both his words and actions.

  • What are the main functions of kidneys?

The kidneys are a vital part of the body’s filtering system. This system cleans the blood and removes harmful waste. If the kidneys do not function, they cannot filter toxins. This can lead to a host of problems. A specialist called a Nephrologist works to delay chronic kidney disease. A Nephrologist works to prevent kidney failure.
